Bitcoin to $76K or $50K? Peter Brandt Fuels Speculation Citing This Trend
Highlights
- Bitcoin price has broken above $72,500, strengthening the bullish technical outlook in the near term.
- Peter Brandt lauds Aksel Kibar's Bitcoin target of $76,000, sparking market discussions.
- A failed breakout could push Bitcoin toward $53,000, reviving speculation around a $50,000 retest.
Bitcoin price has recorded a massive rally today, soaring past the $72,500 mark while writing. Notably, the surge also helped gains in the broader crypto market, with almost all the top altcoins witnessing impressive gains today.
Amid this, renowned trader and market expert Peter Brandt has further fueled discussions. In recent posts on X, Brandt has shared a chart and hinted that the flagship crypto might target the $76,000 resistance ahead, but in a bearish case, it might return to the $50k level.
Bitcoin Breakout Changes the Technical Picture
In a latest X post, Peter Brandt has highlighted a major shift in Bitcoin price from its bearish setup, which had previously dominated the BTC chart. He noted that an inverted head-and-shoulders pattern had initially carried downside risks because its right shoulder developed slowly. The broader trend was also pointing lower at that stage.
However, the completed bottom formation changed his assessment. Brandt indicated that he entered the breakout trade, accepting the risk that the pattern could still fail for Bitcoin.
Meanwhile, that distinction matters for traders, as a technical pattern does not guarantee a price target. It instead provides a framework for measuring possible market moves after a breakout or breakdown.
The chart also highlights this changing structure. BTC price first struggled around the $60,000 area before building a series of lows. It then pushed toward the $64,800 neckline and eventually broke higher.
Analyst Aksel Kibar had also previously identified $60,000 as technical support and stressed that buyers needed a proper reversal pattern before taking a long position. Notably, Peter Brandt has also shared his latest chart, lauding his calls for Bitcoin price.
BTC to $76K or $50K?
In his chart, Kibar highlighted that the bullish case becomes stronger as Bitcoin price breaks through the $67,200 resistance. Besides, his chart has also shown that BTC might target the $76K level ahead. As of writing, BTC price was up around 5% and exchanged hands at $72,500.
It has also helped gains in the broader crypto market today, which has failed to showcase a bullish run for some time. The prediction markets have also turned bullish, with many anticipating the flagship crypto to hit $80K by 2026 end.
However, the $76,000 target would represent another important test for Bitcoin bulls. Failure to hold the breakout could quickly change the market narrative. In addition, Kibar’s chart showed that the bearish scenario also stays in the picture.
For context, the chart marks a potential failure target around $53,000, while the broader discussion has revived speculation about a return toward $50,000. An unsuccessful head-and-shoulders breakout could trigger that move.
Considering that, investors should exercise due diligence, given the highly volatile scenario in the broader crypto market. In addition, the geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran might also continue to impact the broader market sentiment ahead.
