Breaking: China’s DeepSeek AI Eyes IPO To Rival OpenAI, Anthropic, SpaceX
Chinese artificial intelligence firm DeepSeek AI is reportedly planning an initial public offering (IPO) along with a large-scale funding round. The company continues to expand with stiff global competition in the AI sector as SpaceX debuted its IPO in June while OpenAI and Anthropic filed for an IPO recently.
DeepSeek AI Is Eyeing To File For IPO
DeepSeek has begun early discussions with potential investors about a new round of fundraising, per an FT report. This move could ultimately be used to raise DeepSeek’s valuation to approximately $71 billion prior to the incorporation of new funds.
Further, the report also said the startup has initiated some preparations for an initial public offering (IPO). It paves the way for it to submit for listing as early as this year with China likely the preferred place to list.
In addition, it’s worth noting that the fundraising comes just weeks after DeepSeek’s first external fundraising round. The deal reportedly valued the company at $7 billion, yielding a post-money valuation of approximately $52 billion. Investors are putting in all of the above, with the latest discussions giving a higher valuation to leading AI businesses.
With this, DeepSeek has become one of the most notable AI companies in China with their large language models gaining global recognition. The company became a hot topic in China’s pursuit of AI ambitions, and was compared to other top U.S. firms like OpenAI and Anthropic as well.
A Look At Future Expansion Plans
The company is not only raising funds and listing plans but further strengthening its strategic plan. DeepSeek is further ramping up its work in the swiftly expanding ‘agentic AI’ sector. In this field, AI systems are engineered to execute intricate tasks more autonomously than a prompt.
The firm is also making strides to gain more control on its computer infrastructure. It is also focused on creating its own AI chips, which could help cut its reliance on third-party hardware vendors and ease the burden on training and implementing more sophisticated AI models. The move comes as a part of a wider trend of the major AI developers seeking to increase their technological independence given the increased competition in the field.
Recently, in the AI sector, Elon Musk’s SpaceX stock made a grand IPO debut. Hence, other AI firms, including DeepSeek came under pressure.
