Florida Congressman Mike Haridopolos has publicly reaffirmed strong support for the Clarity Act, warning that Democratic delays risk handing America’s digital asset leadership to overseas markets.
Appearing on Fox Business’ Mornings with Maria, the House Financial Services Committee member stated, “This is about making sure that American markets are the premier markets in the world.”
His comments come as the Clarity Act, the landmark crypto market structure bill, faces a turbulent stretch in the Senate just days before the August 8 recess.
Haridopolos Calls Out Senate Politics as Clarity Act Faces August Recess Deadline
The Clarity Act passed the House in July 2025 with broad bipartisan support, 294 votes to 134.
The bill aims to draw clear jurisdictional lines between the SEC and CFTC for digital assets.
It would also deliver regulatory certainty for blockchain developers, exchanges, and investors, while protecting consumers and preventing capital from fleeing to foreign markets.
Haridopolos, who voted for the bill, has been a consistent advocate.
In earlier statements tracked on X, he highlighted how prior enforcement-only approaches drove crypto business away from American soil.
The last 4 years were a regulatory mess for crypto, and it let the Biden Admin chase business out of America.

Criticizing Democratic opposition on Fox Business, he stated: “Democrats will play politics, abuse the privilege of delay and deny the American voter what they want.”
Senator Cynthia Lummis, a key Senate ally, echoed the push on X, posting “I’m the Clarity bill, on Capitol Hill” as she urged immediate floor action.
The urgency is clear. Senate Majority Leader John Thune had signaled a willingness to force a Senate floor vote even without the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster, a move designed to put every senator on record before the recess.
Senate Delays and Industry Pressure Mount With the Clock Running Down
That floor vote is now under direct threat. The Senate put the Clarity Act on hold on July 28 to process 74 Trump federal nominations and advance the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia Act of 2026.
A floor vote on the Clarity Act is now considered unlikely before next week, narrowing the legislative window to just days before the August 8 recess.
Opposition is also mounting outside the chamber. New York AG Letitia James warned Congress that the bill would weaken state-level enforcement against crypto fraud.
Democrats are also pushing back on ethics provisions in the recently released Senate draft, which places temporary restrictions on covered officials issuing or sponsoring digital assets, sunsetting around 2029.
Industry weight behind the bill remains heavy. Charles Schwab formally backed the Clarity Act alongside Coinbase, Ripple, BlackRock, Fidelity, Goldman Sachs, and the Digital Chamber, who continued pressing for action on X.

For investors, the stakes remain high. Passage of the Clarity Act would reduce the regulatory uncertainty that has weighed on institutional flows, ETF activity, and corporate adoption.
Further delay risks pushing this landmark crypto market structure legislation into 2027, and with it, American competitiveness in the global digital asset race.
