Highlights

  • Bitmine bought 42,197 ETH worth $74 million, lifting total holdings to 5,742,237 ETH, about 4.8% of supply.
  • Tom Lee says the firm is edging closer to its "Alchemy of 5%" target, with 85% of holdings staked via MAVAN.
  • Lee tied the buy to CLARITY Act optimism, calling regulatory clarity a catalyst for institutional Ethereum adoption.

Ethereum-focused treasury firm Bitmine Immersion Technologies (NYSE: BMNR) has amassed an additional 42,197 ETH, which is about $74 million in equivalence.

Tom Lee, the current chairperson of the treasury firm, attributed the growing optimism around the CLARITY Act to be a strong catalyst behind the recent development. Currently, the firm holds a total of about 5,742,237 ETH, which is about 4.8% of the asset’s circulating supply.

Bitmine’s Latest Buy Edges Closer to the ‘5% Alchemy’ Target

Tom Lee further disclosed that Bitmine is very close to reaching their long-standing target, which is having 5% of Ethereum’s supply in their custody, a strategy that was branded “Alchemy of 5%.”

Bitmine, in addition to the Ethereum holdings, has also purchased other digital assets, cash, and marketable securities, all amounting to $11.1 billion.

The firm, however, has about 85% of its Ethereum holdings staked via the company’s proprietary MAVAN network. Their equity stakes span 206 BTC, positions in Beast Industries and Eightco Holdings, and $527 million in liquid reserves.

That buying cadence has been relentless. When Bitmine last disclosed a major purchase, a $154 million acquisition that pushed holdings past 5.28 million ETH, BMNR stock slipped despite the bullish signal, a pattern that has repeated across several accumulation rounds.

Earlier in June, Tom Lee signaled that buying ETH could slow, stating Bitmine may not need more than 5% of supply once the target is met. At that time, Bitmine held roughly 4.6%, confirming today’s 4.8% figure represents meaningful progress in a short window. The price of the BMNR stock has surged 8.29% amid recent developments.

Tom Lee Connects Bitmine’s ETH Strategy to CLARITY Act Momentum

Some crypto enthusiasts predicted that the odds of the CLARITY Act passing are roughly above 50% as waves of optimism grow. Tom Lee leveraged the explosive purchase of Ethereum to build a thesis around U.S. regulation.

He argues that regulatory clarity will accelerate institutional adoption of blockchain infrastructure, particularly smart contract platforms. On X (formerly Twitter), Fundstrat reinforced its institutional Ethereum ecosystem view.

Lee has previously described the current environment as the start of a “crypto spring,” a shift from regulatory uncertainty toward a more permissive institutional landscape.

Under that framing, Bitmine’s staking yield model through MAVAN becomes more viable as compliant infrastructure, not just a speculative bet. The company has positioned itself as the “Michael Saylor of Ethereum”, accumulating and staking, rather than holding passively.
